@aXed @xph11 alright bud's, its been awhile and I have been very inactive on gc as of late, but for a good reason... I really like gc, and you swatting down my anarchy unban server idea has done nothing more then make me wana up the anti. atm me and a bunch of other gc players are working on a loose mc server cluster that revolves around the whole anarchy server idea as a sort of demo server deal. my current setup for minecraft is a mixture of semi-vanilla and survival with a definite anarchy angle to it(with a few more options like minable spawners, craftable spawners, modifiable spawners, and in game money rankup's on a server you can totally cheat on) now here comes my next mind warping brain buster of an idea for you... according to the eula rules you can totally get away with charging players to add servers to your network... see where im going with this? for a price regular gc players can build their own server and host it their selves, and you charge to add it to the proxy. from what I gather using bungee cord providing the server is properly configured(aka it has a host name(or static ip) and its ports open), you guys could easily add in a player server to the gc network. think of it as a section of gc that just has to conform to some basic rules in order to conform to the main server. you see with this setup your not charging players to play your shit, your charging them to play their shit on your server. using dutch hosting(which I plan to use to eventually to host my demo servers for you) you could even turn a buck off that. it fucking sucks mojang didnt go for the whole warp plugin thing.... but fear not, 24/7 I sit here day in day out thinking about sweet ass things you can add to gc too turn a buck off of it.(no joke, I have gone to an awful lot of trouble with this newest scheme) selling players access to your proxy is pretty much the last bastion of shit mojang cant touch. whats more you could even tax sub servers for anything they make via your proxy. (no need to make another itsamethyst, this is different; less personal and more buisness) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ another thing I should mention is bitcoin... buycaft actually has an api for bitcoin via coinbase, bitcoin is the sort of currency players cannot charge back. also if you charged bitcoins, according to the US supreme court, they are not considered currency(hard or soft), infact its much the same deal in canada here too.(and many other countries) if mojang wants to challenge that, all the power to them, id love for bitcoin to actually be considered a currency... but its not. so thats another crazy thing I have to present to you my friend! more then anybody.... I want to line your pockets with fat stacks of cash with my ideas, servers and personal time cost money, we all know that. so just think about it bud. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ for a time I was staff, but there were too many conflicts between the job expected, and my ambitions. tbh I couldent handle the stress, and im sorry for letting you guys down. but make no mistake... where I am now, I can actually suggest more change. as a regular jack off like everybody else, people talk to me, people listen to me! id not trade that for any amount of power.
I should also mention farlands build servers are constructed with 100% free plugins, if there are any pirated plugins we find and use, we will note that so you can further investigate. we just want to enhance the player experience on gc as cheap as possible for the maximum returns to you. (any players invited are told explicitly they must continue play on gc, our servers are nothing more then build servers built for examples to be later used here on gc if the idea is accepted)
fyi I technically already have my own server cluster, but its just not the same without gc.... the server I have... I have mad loyalty towards already.(aka gc)
why shouldent I and many others not have the chance to have our own little corner of gc just for player hosted servers? servers hosted off our own coin, but let onto the proxy if we follow the rules and pay a toll.
also dutch game hosting with that sweet ass 10% guildcraft coupon deal, is a very good deal for what they offer! aka after the coupon its equal to anything else anybody else has to offer, but dgh has better services.
gc should just let players add what they want, if its good enough to add to the main servers, sooooo be it! if a group of guys have the cash and the time to dev something, what does our fine network have to loose.
@dm4uz3 that sorta negative commentary is exactly why I gave up even bothering to try talk to staff anymore, you guy's just dont think outside the box enough for my liking. you dont see how big of a idea this is. this is the sort of idea that could bring back all the revenue gc lost from the new eula enforced rules and draw more players in? dont you want to play on a player paid for anarchy server? dont you want all those mini games gc is missing(race for wool) dont you want more game modes? paid for by players for players? in the end players are the people footing the bill, all gc has to do is add in a few lines of code into their bungee cord servers config files to add an extra menu and what ever servers that pay for the service.
its not even an original idea, its just the first time its been suggested on an offline server.(a server that has everything to gain from this asymmetric plan)
the going bitcoin price per EUR updated per second: http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/currency/EUR.html and the buycraft api has an option for that via coinbase which per eur sits at 549 eur per btc at the moment. dealing in bitcoin opens up alot more donation options world wide then even paypal.
took me weeks to think about this all, weeks..... me and a bunch of likewise concerned players hatched a mega plan to give to0 gc out of love for our home. we have even constructed example servers with the capability to make any sort of server we wanted for demo purposes. hell I built 2 servers(physical machines ready for a mc server) myself for the job off my own internet connection.
in every respect if a player had the cash to host and the cash to pay the toll, ideally if approved they could get added to the proxy if all worked out right. this is all about a player server section of gc.
a section separate from the main servers where regular players can pay for access to to have a link on the gc proxy. ... if players dont like playing there, the server just wouldent get the sorta love the owner wants.
this small addition to gc is so simple it would be stupid. for a dev to add it to the proxy, its actually a very small amount of code. and whats more players who could prospectively be paying for hosting via dutch game hosting(which is a great host gc players already get a discount from) could also be paying to be behind gc's proxy that also offers ddos protection. think about this. its a brand new racket.
