    Hey. It's been awhile.

    So, I was just surfing the Internet like I always do, and this website showed up as a recommended in my search bar. So I decided to browse through the forums like I used to do daily a few years ago, and, seeing all of these new players joining Guildcraft and starting their new journeys in the server is, nostalgic for me, to say the least.

    Now, I know a lot of veteran players have quit already and a few are still here. It's always nice to see the usernames I had gotten to know so well from playing almost 2-3 hours daily a few years ago. But, on the other hand, it also makes me smile to see so many new players beginning in Guildcraft. It really allows me to reminisce back in late-2012 when I myself first logged onto this server. Even though I've "Quit" for now, it really makes me happy to see other people enjoying themselves and meeting new people through this server. I'm sure many Guildcrafters have had the same broad journey as me: Starting off as a harbored, non-talkative player and growing to become a strong, outspoken friend to many other users. Funny thing is, I trusted some people on here and felt much more comfortable chatting with them than I did with some of my real-life friends. I guess that the anonymity you get being an Internet user really allows people to come out of their shells and open up to others, wherever they are, which is one of the reasons I loved this server and Minecraft in general. I thought of it more as a social platform where you could meet and play with all kinds of people, something that also helped me mature as a person in real-life.

    I know many other veteran users like me wish that we could go back to "the good old days" of 2013 to 2015, when Guildcraft was much simpler, the player community was more tightly-knit, and the experiences were genuine and real. But, change is a part of life, and although Guildcraft hasn't "changed" that much in that sense, it would be unfair on us to not allow new players to experience the joy and the fun times we once had with our own companions. To me, it is important that people enjoy and appreciate what this server has to offer in the midst of most of our stressed and frustrating lives in the real world. It really helped me cope through some difficult times in my own life and when no one else was there for me, I could confide in people I only knew through Guildcraft to be there for me and they could confide in me to be there for them. That's what I loved about Guildcraft. You could log on and just escape the harsh realities of reality and simply enjoy yourself with other people just like you.

    I know that Minecraft has earned a reputation for being "some dumb kiddie game that's a waste of time" to a lot of outsiders, but I feel very strongly when I say that it is quite the opposite. Sure, the game's audience may be targeted towards younger children, but I feel that the game itself can be a changing experience for everyone, no matter what your age. You can be 9, 17, or even 30 years old, and still feel euphoria just from interacting with other players and playing together. Heck, the idea that you can use your own persona online and communicate with others no matter what their age or race may be is remarkable. I guess that's the power of multiplayer games.

    I know I've written a lot and I know I'm not the best with words, but everything I wrote above comes from my own personal experiences on Guildcraft. I first logged onto this amazing server when I was 12, and now, 4 years later, I can officially say that the people I met on Guildcraft have helped me mature into a more understanding individual (Even if that may sound a little weird to say out loud). Even though I'm on a hiatus for now and school work is piling up, I really hope to be back someday and interact with new people. I just have one final message to new players joining the server for the first time: Make the best out of your experience here. Don't be afraid to talk with and meet new people, and try everything you encounter. Not many people will get the opportunity to experience something like this in their lifetimes, so make sure you don't regret anything later on, since this won't last forever.

    TL;DR: I owe it to GC for helping me mature as an individual through the different kinds of people I met and I hope incoming players get to experience the fun times I once did on this server with others.

    Well, that's all I have to say. Thanks for reading the entire thing (if you did) and I hope some of you get something out of this. Have a nice day/night. :)

    Best Wishes,
    Hydroxide

    Please, do read this;

    My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung ****. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your long post gave me eye **** anyway.

    Well that's certainly the first criticism I thought I would receive on my post...haha

    Added a TL;DR for anyone that just wants a general idea of what I wrote about.
