Welcome to the Master Guide of SkyGrid! Many people ask basic questions that can be solved by going to the info warp! So rule number one: /warp info before you do anything else. This tutorial will explain most of the basics, and if there's anything to add, please comment and I will edit this post. The text in bold will outline the subject of the paragraph. When you first arrive at the spawn, /usg home Is shown in your face. That command takes you to your skygrid home, a random place on top of the grid. Type /usg home anywhere to return to that spot like a /home, but faster. Extremely useful if you fall into the void. Chest shop - player built shops Dutch_Spawn(name of shop's owner) 1 (quantity of item) B30:S20 (B =pay money, get item from | S =get money, sell item to) apple (name of item) How to read and make a shop sign was shown above. If some really weird items like potions and spawn eggs are too long to type in a sign, hold the item and type /itemdb or /iteminfo to see its......... info. The number goes on the bottom of the sign. If there's a sign saying "free diamonds behind lava!" don't click the shop sign behind the lava; you can't see what it's selling. Please report this to one of the Admins. As the /warp info explains, the End and Nether is PVP on, no fall damage anywhere, buy a rank or vote for more claim blocks, /party to avoid hitting your friends in pvp, Read the Rules, and one of the giant cause of chat spam called Claiming land Frist, build a rectangular platform that you'd like to claim. Every block from Y:0 to the top of the world is yours, so you don't need to build sideways very much. Make sure the corners of the platform is a full block; no half slabs. Use the golden shovel on the corners and you have space to build in. water cannot flow from claim to unclaimed, or different claims. Commands associated with claiming can be found on pages of /help. If you type "how to claim" in the chat, the server will post a link to a video guide to you on how to claim. /warp pvp Do not go in unless you can bear losing your inventory and exp. Hackers, glitchers, and the plain over powered will kill you, so do not complain in chat about "gimme my stuff back" or "___ hacks!!!!!" Report on the forums. Note that Dogs are not allowed to be taken to the PVP arena. With the commands explained, the next part is game play. How to get an iron farm? A pack of dogs? Keep reading. Starting out You have nothing else but /kit tools, and is standing on top of your /usg home. Yes, the grid of blocks is trippy, but find stone. Also, if you find a chest, loot it and break the chest, Please. Empty chests are annoying for all players, even the looter, as he/she comes across it again. With 8 stone, some wood and 3 iron ore, make a platform at your home and start smelting the ore. Get some dirt and saplings while you're at it, as wood is a source of money. The Cobble Generator Craft a bucket to get lava and water. Starting from left to right in a straight line; water source, a 1 block deep hole, floor, and lava source. That is the basic cobble generator, with the block appearing between the hole and lava. Or visit /wwarp thwart and go all the way up the ladder to see mine. With infinite blocks, start building your island! Little convenient things to have infinite water blocks; 2x2 square of water or 3 in a row; take water from the middle one. Make walls around your island, grief protection. Type this on a sign to make a wwarp: [welcome] if it shows green, then it is correct. A carpet on top of a fence. Only players can hop over the fence, keeping animals fenced. Keep a lookout for random spawns, mostly near y:0 and on grass blocks. Rabbits, horses, etc! Creepers, Withers and TNT don't damage blocks. Fortune enchants affect crop drops, and don't take durability on your tool when harvesting. Now to the more advanced part of building, when you have established an island with trees, crops, and have a few spawn eggs from looting chests (break the empty chests), use the spawn eggs. Uses of spawn eggs Pigs, cows, chickens, (rabbits?!) can be farmed in a 3x3 area. Just follow the same layout as a chicken farm. Beware of lag if you have 283 cows floating on water, though. Mob spawn eggs (zombie, blaze,) have no obvious use. Pets; wolf, ocelot, horse. It's best to COTW with MCMMO, do /taming for more information. Read the wiki for even more information. Sheep must be put on a grassy area for them to regrow wool. Villagers You need 2 of them to start breeding. Put the villagers in a big room with walls and a roof (babies are one block size) and just add doors! The more doors you have, the more they're going to reproduce. But they are very slow to start gaining numbers. 10 spawns a golem. Nether Make your own portal (it will most likely lead to someone else's nether base) or find one at a /wwarp. The nether houses blazes and ghasts, so bring a bow. Whither skeletons will spawn out of skeleton spawners, and chests contain nether stars. Rarely. Beware of PVP, jumping from soul sand, and flying mobs with their projectiles. The End To get to The End, you have to buy 12 (!!!!) End Portal Frames from /warp shop. Each frame costs $2.000. Besides 12 Frame pieces, you will need 12 Eye of Ender. Which can be crafter with 1 Enderpearl and 1 Blaze powder. To make a portal successfully, have a square of 5 by 5. In the corners you place any block of your choice e.g Stone Brick or Cobblestone. In between the corners you place the Frame pieces facing away from the center. Make sure that the 5 by 5 area is a complete floor, else the End Portal will not work. End Portal Frames cannot be mined! Once placed, it will be there "forever". Unless a Head-Admin/Owner is willing to help you fix it. Once you placed all 12 frame pieces, you insert an Eye of Ender in each frame piece. If you done it correctly, the portal will activate and you are ready to jump to The End! If this wasn't clear enough, watch this video first. Make sure you watch the whole video, he gives an example of how it can Fail. Just like the Overworld and The Nether, you will see that The End is a grid. But made out of End Stone, Obsidian and sometimes a Chest. The End is very much similar to The Nether. They both have PVP enabled, Flying is not possible and there is not much variety of resources. The biggest difference between The End and The Nether is that Fall Damage is Enabled in The End. Be careful not to fall down too much, or you will die. The first cause of chat spam: GRIEFING -absolutely rendering a player's base unusable. Do. Not. Grief. Claim all the land that you'll be using and leave the rest behind an impassable wall, to prevent players from going outside your island and building things out there. In the rules, you cannot grief around someone's claim. That does not prevent it from happening. Be careful of where the [welcome] sign is placed. People can come through the /wwarp anytime, and wreck havoc on your unprotected base. The End! Please comment suggestions or possible edits, and have fun playing on the skygrid server. |*| NOTE |*| I did not create this Guide. The real person to thank is thwart. Still love this guide. And still requesting a sticky for any of the two SkyGrid guidelines, this would help us a lot. - Inferno
Nice addition! Followed you after reading. It would be very helpfull if more guides were copied from the old Forum especially for us (new members) to guide us through, since mods can't keep up with everybody spamming there questions in chat (including me ).
