»Semi-Vanilla reset questions?

So I have been told Semi-vanilla is resetting in August, could someone please provide some more clarity on that?

like why so soon? the map has hardly been touched.

unlike other servers such as faction and survival, in semi vanilla its "alot" harder to progress in; and for all it matters you guys could leave that map for nearly 3 years and it would still be playable.

I feel that if you guys reset so soon you, will detracting away from its growing player base.
alot of people such as myself play semi vanilla because of the slow pace by which it takes to construct mega structures, and the sheer difficulty simply gathering the needed materials entails.

people play there because of the unique experience it offers, in semi players are free to experiment with their creations in ways no other servers on gc offers.
but that experience comes at a cost, unlike other servers you just cannot just go out one day and decide "I'm gona build this"; no large scale player builds take alot of time and logistical planning.

to secure land and then push forward large projects it can take months of waiting, and millions of dollars in igm to make it happen.

semi-vanilla is not the sort of server where you can reset it once per year and expect people to get anything done or for that matter stick around and go threw all that effort just to have it lost.

when I starting building tbifreexp, it took alot of time and effort to get things done to the point where they are today; and even now its still not complete, and apparently now it may never be.

and that sucks, and is needless.

this is not a complicated issue, due to the pace by which it takes to really get anywhere in semi, I do have to suggest a few things.

firstly, please do not reset it so soon, its a great server and its map is quite far from its "end of life"

secondly, in the the event there is a reset; please develop a way by which the map can be restored/rolled back to the backed up default on a chunk by chunk basis.
in most cases you would think resetting the map as a whole would be better, but unlike servers like survival and factions that get chewed up very quickly; in semi vanilla it does not.

infact, you could easily get away with just rolling back chunks individually that are near spawn or where ever players request, and get even more "years" of life out of maps/servers like semi-vanilla.

so in conclusion, please do not make the mistake of prematurely destroying something so "many" people have slaved so hard to create.
its not exactly easy to get anywhere there, and by the time they get there, apparently its all for nothing.
and thats just not cool.

tagging @CyrusTheVirus1 is the reset thing true? maybe just updates to it? so more players would like to play maybe?

 

I was told the whole map is resting in augest, hence why im asking for clarification.

 

I asked @CyrusTheVirus1 a couple of weeks ago when semi is reseting, but he dind't really know.
He said that it won't be soon though.
But I am pretty sure that the reset in august is just a rumor.
