So for the last couple of days I have been noticing staff not really doing their job as a mod/admin. Don't get me wrong, some do an amazing job! There have been several players who have been basically begging for help and staff does not answer their questions/concerns but AS SOON as someone "floods" a little or something minor staff jumps right on it! Iv seen several admins suggest that their are new "guidelines" and that a player must be warned first before they are muted. I see in chat a mod telling someone "Do not flood!!" AS SOON as that person "floods" and then 2 seconds later mute them for it. I think the warning should be enough until they do it a second time and then maybe a mute? Also mods/admins muting for very very minor offences. There is another post in the "help" section in regards to that. Some of suggested that this is a "human error" or staff is not paying attention. With all do respect, that is no excuse. I can see one or two times but this has been going on for days. If someone signs up for mod they should be willing and more than able to answer questions/concerns as well as moderate the chat with no problems. I'm not sure if they think their only job is to moderate chat or if they just don't feel like answering questions...idk. I hope this can be dealt with for the sake of the prison player base. - RJ

 

As a mod I try my best to moderate chat and answer as many questions as I can. Most of the time the chat is out of control and I cant keep up with chat, yet Flood and Spam catches my eye. I do Warn people, and you know this RealityJ , but they tend to be disobidient. Therefore , I mute. If you feel that I am not doing my job correctly, I apologize.

I agree RealityJ. Out of all the staff, Prison staff basically don't have their priorities straight. They mute for minor offenses and never help me whenever I ask for help.

 

Okay, Put yourself in our places, being spammed through /msg is really intolerable. And to make it worse, I get spammed useless things such as "Hi admin!" or the dozens of people spamming me to pay them money or give them stuff -.- and I try my best to help out but i can't always be answering the 1000 questions that people have. Sometimes i miss some but i do try to help. This post is merely one of the 100 hate posts we get about staff all the time. If you see a mod/admin warn "Don't flood" and after a few seconds the person gets muted, you should know there are multiple staff members online and we can't read each other's minds, I don't know if you can but yea... we can't. On top of that, I get helpop'd hackers all the time and I got to check them and it's hard to focus on the hacker and the chat at same time. Not trying to be against you here, I do agree maybe i should help out more and be more vigilant of the chat but I try as much as I can.

 

Well i do my job as Ordered, if people need help i jusmp in- But for muting i dont mute i warn but if people go too far am not warning !

As staff or mod in my case, we do our very best to help others and control the chat. We may not respond all the time we aren't robots but we try our best we might be busy too. And as for the warnings, you don't know if another staff member has warned them already previously and its our first time seeing them so its reasonable. We are here to help not to abuse our powers thanks for understanding RealityJ

 

I never said anyone was abusing powers. I simply said people are not getting the help they need. It seems as if some people think the only job of a mod/admin is to moderate chat. I'm not trying to hate on anyone. If you read my whole thing I said some staff in prison do an amazing job. That is far from hate. I don't understand how someone voicing their concerns is hate? A couple more things. If someone has been warned before then why not just mute them instead of warning them again? Also, not saying there is no way to know but how do you know after like 5 seconds if someone has been warned before? Is there a command to check? Is it from memory? I mean because a lot of these people just joined the server and are new not aware of ALL the rules. There are multiple staff members in Prison correct so I would suggest maybe better communication? The whole reason for this post was not to "hate on staff" or accuse someone of "abusing power" It was simply to bring more awareness to the situation and make a suggestion that "some" staff should be more passionate about their job as mod/admin. - RJ

Is this some kind of an attempt to boost your chances of getting it? You mention "some staff do an amazing job" why not mention the names of some of the ones that do a bad job? So we can clear things up a bit?

 

Not in anyway is this an attempt to boost that. I'm not here to mention names. That does nothing other than start more problems. This conversation since it started has not been productive. I will wait to hear back from someone higher up. If something is done to improve staff on Prison then great! If not then that is okay too. I simply just wanted to voice my opinion. There is nothing wrong with that.

 

To whom are you actually refering to when saying "Some Do a great Job"? Please tell me as I would like to find this "some" And ask for their advice, Since you clearly state that some of us are bad at our job.

Jazzy with all do respect I never ever said anyone was bad at the job. All I am saying is that their is a lot of room for improvement. This post goes to show that. I made a forum post stating MY opinions and recommended somethings. Instead of taking the time to reply asking for names or taking the time to reply accusing me of saying things I have not said and would not say or accusing me of making a hate post..or saying I'm accusing mods of abusing powers...how about actually take the time to look over my post again, see what i exactly said and go on that. Have an open mind!

 

Sometimes I ask mods if i can help them to warn people >_< For example, I asked jazzy if i could help to warn people who flood/swear because Jazzy has things to do on prison too.

 

Well my dear friend, I may agree with you but you cant really help it, Like Even If the things you state are true they cannot be fixed because humans cannot do multi tasking without affecting their performance, Experienced and old staff also face difficulties in handling the server alone but because I've been staff for almost a year now I can mostly handle it, but not the new staff. When I was new, I totally stopped playing and used to pass my time warning / muting people in chat ( or helping ), If you get accepted as a mod you'll experience the same thing. GC receives many staff applications everyday, but do you know what those are like? "Motivation : "this server is the best omg" IGN: "I dont have one" Timezone "What is this I dont know " trust me 90% applications are like that which motivated me to make the how to topic about applications in the forum, If you think prison is lacking some staff, try to become a staff yourself and maybe you could bring a change which others could not

okay for as far as i can follow this now.
1: alot of awnsers can be found at the /warp info (wich players don't vissit alot of times)
2: mod is to chat controll we dont push our staff to awnser all question they can awnser if they are willing to,
they also have a life.
3: u can call things minor but it starts at some level of misbehavior.
we have our guideline and our rules.
4: helping a mod to warn people ???? as far as i know only staff can do the official warns.
offcourse u can tell the player to dont swear / flood but u can't officialy warn.
5: sometimes u see a mod warning some one and 2 sec later the person get muted. thats is maybe not the same mod,
there are more than just one staff member on the server and maybe someone else muted him/her. things go fast!
