I've recently been researching the EULA changes and what could be added and what couldn't. I came across this part of an email sent by Mojang Enforcement to one server owner addressing some of his questions toward the new EULA enforcement: "1. Would selling island resets (3 at a time) for Skyblock be considered breaking the EULA if it is possible for normal users to obtain them? If non-paying players can do the same it should be fine." Pay attention to the last part. If non-paying players could do the same, it should be fine. Therefore you could add things similar to coins, achievable kits, .etc.. into the store. It'd be easier to get them if you buy them, but it'd also be possible for you to do it WITHOUT buying them. This would be very smart and it'd bring back that p2w feeling back to the server without it being 100% p2w. What do you think? It'd be a huge leap for the server and it'd bring back lots of players and, well, @aXed is going to get a new Ferrari! EDIT: I've also found this (https://www.dropbox.com/s/2chopaqdwxlac9u/BlacklistPatcher_Beta-1.jar?dl=1) convenient piece of software that EASILY bypasses the blacklist and can be used by anyone! (Even your grandmother that still can't figure out how to go to the YouTubez and find a pirated movie )
:/ I think it's changed now. I've seen servers where they have done this but this was removed when legacy ranks and stuff were removed on gc :/ You can't give a specific individual an advantage anymore, it has to benefit everyone.
From what I understand; it has to not be such an advantage to where a player that hasn't payed can also receive it somehow (Making the game have less of a p2w concept!).
It's also REALLY easy to bypass the blacklist. It's just that the client has to use a modified version which will be really hard to push out to everyone wanting to play.
Can you give me an example? The legacy ranks here really weren't using my "strategy" (You could call it that! ).
They made ranks that were obtainable through both (un-payed) progress and money? And that failed? That's kind of unreasonable. I don't see Mojang doing this. It isn't operated by a child that changes its mind every 5 seconds.
I mean they aren't allowing an individual to benefit from voting so why do you think they wouldn't ask them to remove the ranks And are you saying that I'm lying ?
I don't see why they aren't allowing voting rewards, to be quite frank. I mean, it isn't unfair. Everyone could vote. Also, I'm not implying that you're lying. I'm implying that it's crazy that that was allowed to happen.
"You're allowed to let players vote, their EULA states that all old perks must be available for people with soft currency. Getting tokens by voting was not considered "soft tokens"." Alright. I get it now.
You can easily bypass the blacklist using 100% vanilla client. See my old posts here around February 2016 for details. The problem is that most players won't do this and the server will die.
The problem is that Mojang will find another way to completely kill the server if this happens. This is why we need to dodge the bullet, not shoot back.
This is against the EULA, any way you put it, ANYTHING and everything that is sold much be a cosmetic, it CAN NOT boost one's gameplay regardless if it can be acquired through another way in game. The only exception is selling access to a server, which is a entree fee, and following the entree fee, there can not be any further purchases added to access other parts of the server that the paid entree is for. As for bypassing the blacklist, its a known fact for any server who attempts to bypass the blacklist, they will face huge amounts of loss in the community, the shop will earn less than 1/2 of what it currently earns, and the community in all will be cut down tremendously, something which is inevitable to end a server / destroy its funding.
Are you repeating what I said or are you suggesting something? I can't make anything of what you're saying. Please clarify. EDIT: Also, I believe you're saying that only cosmetic items can be sold, correct? If so, explain why GC is still selling Annihilation boosters. They definitely aren't cosmetic and they do affect gameplay.
That is one part, that I had forgotten to the exception. Anything sold other than the two I just mentioned must affect the entire server. However there are limits to this as well, which I won't go into simply due to the fact that Mojang has given server owners more information that the public view does not see, and more specific information than I know. And I'm not suggesting anything, you had mentioned: If non-paying players can do the same it should be fine." Which doesn't work anymore. And as for "dodging a bullet", well I believe you and I can both agree that would kill the community's size down to something that wouldn't uphold financially.
