Reading this again, doesn't mod do the same thing? Or staff members in general? Any mod could answer questions, members can do the same that know the rules, pretty sure mods are probably more capable than this guide rank. Imo, useless rank, it's basically doing the job of a staff member but without perms lol
its a test rank, instead of giving them all the perms of mod, short makes them guide first to see if they deserve mod. and i dont think u should be the one to judge other staff, cough* abuse
Good job on telling us you're postfarming --- Double Post Merged, Oct 5, 2018, Original Post Date: Oct 5, 2018 --- This rank is a fucking joke xd
Did I judge anyone? This rank is the job of any staff member no matter if you’re a helper (it’s literally the same thing as a help)mod or admin. it’s completely useless. The only difference between this rank and mod is that you can’t mute, admins get more questions as mods about ban times and if something is bannable. Imo this rank really isn’t important or needed.
Yeah but what often happens is staff answer questions until they get staff, then they stop answering questions. I’ve seen that quite a bit. I think it sets up a good habit and expectation from the get-go, that staff who help others more are are more likely to receive a promotion. It also allows for an easier transition to mod, as it can be a lot to take in all at once. At least with Guide, the staff member has more time to transition into the role and learn the expectations of mod and staff as a whole. It’s not useless, as I know exactly what I intent to do with the role. It’s going to give lots of people who may have never had the staff to be staff get a shot. Overall, this is going to be a good thing for everyone involved, even if it may seem useless on the outside.
It sounds really similar to helper, if staff start answering questions at the start and then ignore members later who ask, they shouldn't get into the habit of it, they shouldn't be staff in the first place. As a staff member, they're supposed to help people, ban cheaters and punish rule breaks, guide rank is the job of every other staff position. Also, whoever gets this rank would probably also need to remember ban times and know what's bannable and what isn't, mods don't really get that many questions, from what I've seen and dealt with, as admin you get more questions. In my overall opinion, it's just like helper but with the name changed. inb4 some1 says im trying 2 get staff again l0l also read discord long1der
The roles of staff ranks on factions and their expectations are different than most servers. Traditionally, the expectations of a mod were mostly just to mute. They weren’t required to necessarily help players out although they were encouraged. Mods that performed an exception job and helped players were rewarded with Helper, mostly just a symbolic role that denoted a higher trust and confidence in a staff member. Helpers only had two extra commands and the ability to see help op. The addition of this rank changes this. Up front, staff members are encouraged and required to help players out. Staff members that display the qualities that make a good staff member will be promoted to Mod. Guide is a good buffer between member and staff that allows me to give more players chances and simalteanously encourage good behaviors from the start. Helper functions the same for the most part. They recently gained the ability to kick players as part of the staff rank overhaul. The difference is now, this rank will be used to promote staff members who perform their job with pride, honesty, and with friendliness. It will still be used as a role to denote trust and confidence, but now the role will be harder to obtain. Ultimately the goal for this is to improve the quality of the staff team and expand the size of our team. On the surface Guide and Helper appear to be the same thing, but there is much more to it than meets the eye.
I too believe in him just because I'm applying on factions and want him to think good about me. Right?
to respond to ur other post. yes u are judging short rn dude. Hes ha for a reason. If he wants a rank before mod he should be able to do it without everyone criticizing him. He obviously thinks its necessary so just let him be. Plus electro is the only active mod ive seen rn so some lower level staff are helpful.
I wasn't judging short as a staff member or person, show me where I did that. I was giving constructive criticism to why I think this new rank is similar to helper and it's the job of already staff member and why it's not needed. Andrew suggested it btw
