What it does:

- After you lose all your hearts you will get 3 hearts

- Regeneration II.. Fire Resistance.. Speed II..

It's like a way to survive easily and get back on your feat

Example: you have full prot 4 diamond gear and a diamond sword sharp 5. And you only have half a heart left. While their is a full iron enchnated guy chasing you and your food is very low . In this situation survivor kit would help you not lose your stuff and you have a easy escape with your speed II. Their are many different possibilities but this would be a decent example.

Speed II - so you would run away easily and survive

Fire resistance - in case your enemy has a fire aspect sword

Regen II - so you would regen your hearts

Pros:
- You would survive and won't lose your stuff
- you would have another chance to attack

Cons:
- the kit is kinda expensive
- you can be accused of hacking if you have this kit and the guy who almost killed you doesn't know about this kit



Starting items:
- normal civilian items

Warning: you can only use this once in a Minecraft life

Pretty weird kit if it only activates at half a heart, its quite rare to be at this health and have time to run away...
Seems a bit too op aswell. I mean if you had the gear which you suggested above, chances are you'd take pots with you if pvp. Cos to get this gear you would have needed to have been enchanter, and the only time you change kit is when you want to farm... seems a bit weird.

Yep, agree with @ScarYHD and @bananarobot 's "yep".

It's more op than Pyro, Berserker, and Jumper added together since the regen is too much. Then you can just run away and come back to farm.
But actually it is pretty well planned.
@R3D_G3KKO berserker is also 25k.

 

Yes, berserker costs 25,000 xp and your kit costs 50,00 xp. More players will choose berserker because they both almost got the same attributes with Survivor kit a bit OPier. And berserker is cheaper.

 

Survivor= Immortality= OP= Super OP....I suggest you can only use this once per life
