»Criticism of the Guildcraft Staff Requirments

(Feedback post) Does the requirments still count?

The staff team is hard working, nothing to say about that. But with great player loss, the staff team also becomes gradually worse. However, promoting people that doesn't fit the actual staff requirments, just makes it all worse.

The requirments are:
"At least 15 years old. (14 or younger, don't apply.)
Active for at least 3 months.
Knowledge and Experience in and about Minecraft.
English (Language) *Proper English grammar.
Knowing our rules by heart.
Adult and neutral behaviour.
Clean history for at least 3 months. (Small mutes don't matter)

The saddening part about this is that there's a bunch of staff members that doesn't meet these requirments. Hell, there's even head admins thats younger than 15. There's people that got banned for abusing their admin position, who's staff again one month later. If you want to make a good staff team, atleast promote people according to the actual requirments. Making exceptions is also a big mistake, since people will start criticizing them and say "Hey, why cant i get staff when im 14 when ...... got it?"

To summarize, you either gotta clean your staff team up and form it so they all fit the actual requirments, or you gotta change these requirments. I personally would've preferred the first option, hence; having staff members who has worse ban histories than the other players is just weird, also it's weird to have a head admin who's 2/3/4 years younger than you. Remember: maturity normally comes with age.

I don't necessarily think that the age of the staff member should be the most important requirement.
Being mature and respectful should be valued most when selecting staff members, you want someone who's capable of making rational and objective decisions while not being impacted by his emotions.

I agree with you that there are some problems with the current staff system, I mainly believe that the quality of the staff team should be valued more than the quantity.
Before when factions had 250+ players on a daily basis, there were maybe 3-4 active staff members (~5 total), the chat was always clean, people would be respectful to each other, and every new member would get the information he needs.

But, if you look at it from aXed's point of view, there's a lot of gamemodes for a 300player server, it's hard to find 10+ trustworthy and valuable H-A, and imagine how hard it would be to find as highly valuable Mods/Admins.
It's a tricky situation, the only way it could be fixed is with hard work and some luck in finding good staff members (and valuing their hard work so they don't leave).

 

Don't know if you're trying to get staff again after being demoted for abuse, but please leave your irrelevant opinions and replies out of this post. Your reply is less useful than your contributions as admin.

I thought i was the only one thinking about that, i fully agree with you and thank you for this post, i actually can help you with some facts.
I will talk just about what happened in the last month on anni when it comes to our lovely staff team:
-A HA promoted some of his "friends" (guys who basically sucked him up hoping to become staff) one or two of them ban evaders.
-The most toxic player who was banned at that time got unbanned by the same HA and promoted to mod (on the same day).
-A guy with 13 bans who had an on-going ban got also unbanned and promoted to mod (on the same day).
-An admin who abused his perms got demoted; then he came and bragged with what he did, and now he is again staff member..
-Ppl who have no connection with this game became staff members just because they were in good relations with the HA.
All I've mentioned here are facts that aren't hard to prove. I didn't give names because some ppl can offend more than it should, but if you find yourself in my lines then you suck, pce.

 

Can you stop posting stuff that nor i or anyone else cares about? So we can stick to the actual theme of this post? Thanks. If not I'll have to ask an admin to remove your replies.

 

IMO, the age thing is a bit bad. It should go on maturity level and based on how they act in-game.

tho one of the few things i dont like is how faction tends to be much more lenient when it comes to chat rules. Like everyone has come to expect everyone to break the rules so they say "nah dont mute its factions". Sev.1-sev.2 things often get overlooked or just end up with a warn.

tbh I don't really care about the age of the staff member.
As long as does his job correctly, has proper grammar, and acts mature and grown up, he's good.

im talking about the "underaged" staff members in general.

 

Age thing is already long gone, we know there are at least 5 staff members right now that don't meet it, if not more. It's just kinda pointless to keep it as it is, ruins the server's image. And the fact that some people get re-promoted to mod roughly just 1-2 months after their demotion is just bizzare, so don't ask me how that happened. You know the management isn't taken seriously when even the staff requirements aren't properly followed....it pains me to see how this server has become in 4 years of playing it, keeps downgrading more and more...

 

Early 2016, when Tenderman was H-A, there were a few mods/admins, but they were all active ( a few hours a day (3-4)), I don't remember anyone getting away with anything.
The_Urban_Viking would have to respond to 20x unmute requests per day because people weren't expecting that they'd get muted for spam/toxic arguments.
Jince222/Melon333 were both great and responsive admins, even if sometimes not active, they'd always do their best while online.
Don't get me wrong. the current H-A of factions is one of the best staff on GC, but the standards for lower staff ranks are much lower than before mainly due to playercount drop.

 

Valid points, but I only play prison/oppris and from what I've noticed their staff was fine, I guess gamemodes like surv/fac is where your points are more focused on.

 

This is just someone's opinion, and we would all be glad if you respect it. This is constructive criticism, since it aims to further improve the staff team. Stop with the bs.

As for Henry's post, I have to agree. And before someone points out my obvious inactivity, I'm here to talk about meeting the requirements and not being a good or bad admin.

Anyway... Like I said, I completely agree. Some staffs don't meet certain requirements, some who were banned 3d ago got unbanned + a staff position, and that's just bs. Legit...

Not sure if it's just me, but I'm finding that, we, the other admins, have less and less of an impact, in the decision of a new admin/mod. They just pop, out of nowhere sometimes. It's awful, I was suprised when I saw some new guy and didn't even knew he got accepted.
