Do I have to upgrade my island with /upgrades 1st, then I can purchase the island extension in the GC shop? Or I can just purchase from the shop right away?

I have default size atm and I would like to know, thanks

 

I think its already answered ingame, not sure if you bought it already.
But you do not need to buy any other upgrades in the /upgrades menu, you can buy them straight from the GC store.

Getting the island size upgrade activated might be a bit of a problem though, for some it takes a few days and others get it instantly.
To try and speed it up you could change servers with /server prison - /server skyblock, this helps when it messes up the island "range" to smaller island as well.
