»Crafting Gapples

So, I've been farming gold for a while in the Prison game mode in hopes that I could craft god apples. Once I had over a stack of gold blocks, its was crafting time. But when I put 8 gold blocks around an apple, no result comes. I Googled everywhere for an answer but came up with nothing. It works in singleplayer, but in prison, it doesn't work. I've tried refreshing, restarting MC, even restarting my computer. Nothing works. Please help me

 

Are gapples even craftable in prison? The last time I checked they were ,it's so weird

 

shouldnt golden apples be golden ingots all around an apple in the crafting bench, not gold blocks?

 

Golden ingots give you a golden apple.
Golden blocks give you a Super golden apple

This might be a prison bug?

I already checked this one, and it works for me i can craft super golden apple/golden apple using gold blocks/ingots.
