Hello everyone, this isn't a toxic post or anything. I love EggWars a lot - it's a really fun and fast paced game... until you get bows.. Everything about Egg Wars is amazing. The PvP, the different strategies, the middle treasure pp, etc. But one thing I've noticed after a few games, is the point where people get bows. Not only is it highly annoying, but it makes 15-20 minute games, turn into 30-45 minute games - for no reason. How much skill does it take to shoot someone off of a sandstone path that is completely straight? Not only that, but how hard is it to build from that path to make walls without them running around to the other side and hitting you from there? There's seriously no point to add bows. All it does it let people sit in their cosey little bases until some good pvper comes with all their gear and tries to run across, and then shoot them off with your bow. How is that fun, at all? I'm not the greatest at pvp, but I really enjoy seeing someone collecting ores in the middle and trying to kill them with my sword. This increases the skill you need to play this game mode. If someone goes to the middle, get the ore they need to upgrade their own machines, run back to their base and just sit there and turtle (hug your base and do not move), then you're wasting a LOT of time, and it's not fun - just stressful when you're the brave one, run across their path just to get shot off. There goes 20 minutes of work because people sit in their base with a big smile on because they can aim straight. My suggestion -> Don't change anything about Egg Wars except removing bows. Honestly, it would be so much more fun. Plus you could keep games under 20 minutes with ease. If bows aren't taken out, at least make a map where bows are taken out or something. I honestly love Egg Wars, but every time I play now, I realize as soon as people get bows, it's going to get severely boring. Please, take my advice and you'll see an increase in people playing.
I don't play egg wars, but I think that if you invest in building enclosed paths (walls + optional roof) then you won't have a problem with archers, the archers will focus on everyone else and you will have a superior advantage over other teams without said enclosed paths. Alternatively make your paths wider so one arrow wont send you to your death. It would only take 1 person to do it, and the gains from having better defenses might be more worthwhile than other uses of that player's time.
Another problem is when you're attacking the last team and you eliminate one dude but then the other one runs off and hides. I end up searching and searching but I can never seem to find the last guy so I just give up and then the lame ass wins. Not sure how you could prevent that but it is a problem.
True, and most people do this. But what I'm saying, is make shorter games, that are more fun, by taking this whole stressful situation out. Or another alternative would be making a map that doesn't have bows. Honestly, if you want to win 95% of your games, then turtle. I have seen very few lose But taking bows out would make this not an option - and would leave people with a more fast-paced, quick-but-intense game mode. If I wanted to spend 30m-1h I'd go play annihilation.
True. Having maps both with and without bows works, so +1 for that idea. Some people love camping and some don't, so it would suit both play-styles, if a bit tricky to implement.
wholly agree 100%. it just turns into a fucking boring dragout, at the point where it's basically skywars but slower and more boring.
Eggactly! Glad someone else can see the way the egg cracks. I feel this game mode could be eggsellent if they cracked down on the campers. I think with some time, they would see the sunny-side up!
I think bows should stay, there is many strategies you can do to get into someones base, one of them is obviously building sandstone around the path, or if you have a good teammate, one of you distracts the campers and the other guy builds a sneaky path to the campers base. and lets say an iron guy fully geared up killed all your teammates that were in mid and you all respawned with no armor no weapons, bows are one of the very few ways to stop/delay these geared iron people.
I'm definitely not denying that there could be strategy involved - what I'm pointing out, is people camp in their bases, making games very boring, and way longer then they should have to be. When bows are in the game, it literally becomes "who can make the safest path without getting hit off and losing everything". I realize people might like to have bows for strategy though, which is why I suggested to make it so some maps have bows, and others do not.
Totally agree with you! What I do to prevent this: Making a path when people aren't busy shooting with their bows, making then a little box where I can't be shoot off, Building further until I reach the top of the base, Exploding the people with 5 TNT, mmmhhh tastes like gunpowder here ehh? +1
