    Hi all,

The forum has seen many guides for the myriad of servers GuildCraft offers. Semi-Vanilla however, could definitely use a bit more love in comparison with the others. Indeed, there are no longer as much players playing on Semi-Vanilla today. Nevertheless, Semi-Vanilla still remains to be a rewarding server to be play on. Semi-Vanilla is similar to Survival, with the main difference being that it has lesser plugins. This guide aims to deliver information in the clearest possible way on how to play in Semi-Vanilla. Suggestions and ideas are of course, welcomed :) Presenting to you, the

Chapter 1: A Place To Call Home
In your first visit to the Semi-Vanilla server, you will find yourself at a place known as spawn. Try breaking the blocks around you and you will realize none of them can be broken. This is true for blocks around warps as well. The only place where you can break blocks to obtain materials is in the wild. Unfortunately, there is no /warp wild command for use. The few available warps in Semi-Vanilla are listed below:
    • Help
    • Playerinfo
    • PVP
    • Rules
    • Shop
    • Staff
To get into the wild, you need to walk out of spawn on foot. When you first leave the spawn building, you would notice lots of player-made buildings surrounding the spawn, each nicely allocated to what is termed a "Plot". Plots are often owned by the more experienced players on the server and it is unlikely for you to obtain one when you first start out. Hence, continue walking until these buildings start to fade out of view. When you are able to break blocks, that's when you know you are in the wild. Feel free to explore around for a spot to build your house which you can call your home. At this point, it is worth noting that Player Versus Player (PVP) is enabled once you are more than 5000 blocks away from spawn. For starters, it is thus recommended to explore within the safe zone where PVP is disabled.

Once you have found a location in the wild to build a house, type /sethome. Once you've executed this command, the spot where you are standing on can be returned to easily with the command /home. That way, you do not have to keep walking miles from a spawn/warp point to get home.

With that done, you have one last thing to do before you begin to build your house - Claim your land. Claiming is important, especially in Semi-Vanilla where griefing is allowed. Within your claimed land, only you can break blocks and interact with the buttons/doors/levers/chests/animals etc. Should you not claim the land for your house, other players can destroy and break your house or steal items from your chests. Below is an explanation on how to claim:

Step 1: Get a Golden Shovel (Golden Shovel is needed to claim land)
Golden Shovel can be obtained from crafting/buying from other players. Should you realize that you have insufficient money, type /vote and voting links will appear. Click on these links and vote for the server. Each vote gives you $250, more than enough for a golden shovel. Alternatively, ask in chat if any other players are willing to spare you a golden shovel. Semi-Vanilla has its fair share of friendly players so do not hesitate to voice out! Once you have a golden shovel type /home to get back to the location for your house.

Step 2: Knowing the limit of your claim
Claimblocks are limited, especially for new players. Type /claimlist to check how many claimblocks you have. Your claim area cannot exceed this number of claimblocks. For new players, it is advisable to only start off with a small house so that everything you build can fit into your claim area. Once you have chosen your claim area, proceed to one of the corners of your claim.

*Note: The Example below already has a completed house

With the golden shovel in hand, right click on one of the corners of your claim. A diamond block will show up as shown below:

Keep the golden shovel in your hand and proceed to the opposite corner. Right click again at this other corner of your claim area. The following is what you will see:

As you can see, the area enclosed by the two corners is your claimed land. Only you have permissions within this claimed land of yours. For an in-game guided example, type /warp help.

In the event that you would like another player to have access to your claim as well (maybe to help you build your house), these commands below will allow them permission in your claim:

/permissiontrust <playername> - Allows the player to give permissions in your claim to others as well!
/trust <playername> - Allows the player to build/access your buttons/animals/chests in your claim!
/containertrust <playername> - Allows the player to access your buttons/animals/chests in your claim!
/accesstrust <playername> - Allows the player to access buttons/levers in your claim!

*Note: These trust commands should only be given to players you trust. If you trust someone and they decide to betray you, admins cannot help you to get your lost items/build back!

At any point of time, to check who has permissions in your claim, simply stand in your claim and type /trustlist. To remove permissions from a player, simply type /untrust <playername>. To abandon your claim, stand within in and type /abandonclaim.

Chapter 2: Rules, Exploration & Making Friends
At this stage, you should have a house of your own to store your items and to return to. Before moving on to explore the server, it is important to know the rules. Type /warp rules and you will find yourself standing in front of numerous signs as shown below:

This aside, more details and tips are also provided at /warp playerinfo.

*Refer to pictures below for details shown at /warp playerinfo.

Make sure you familiarize yourself with all the rules of the server. Punishments are in place for those who break these rules. Should you need to clarify any of these rules, feel free to approach the staffs/older players on the server. They are more than willing to help.

Once you know the do's and don'ts, you are prepared to brave the wild. Open up your inventory and you will see several starter items already in there. Equip those leather armors and ready those mining tools. Feel free to mine around like how you would in single-player survival mode (I told you Semi-Vanilla is similar to Survival :p). At some point in time, you would realize there is a need to fill your hunger bar. Type /kit tools, which would provide you with some stone tools, 10 torches and 2 steak. It has a short cooldown of 10 minutes so use it often if you are new. It's useful not only for food consumption, but also for mining!

After some time, you may get bored of being alone. That's when you know you want to make friends with others on the server ;) To start a private message with another player, simply type /w <playername> <message>. For example, you wish to chat with me ;). Simply type /w FrozenFever Hi. On my end, I will receive your message. Subsequently, to reply to the person you were last chatting with, simply use /r <message>.

To teleport yourself to your new-found friend, type /tpa <playername>. Once again, taking me as your friend, an example of the full command would then be /tpa FrozenFever. To teleport your friend to you, replace /tpa with /tpahere. An example of the full command would then be /tpahere FrozenFever. To accept any teleport requests, type /tpyes. To reject any teleport requests, type /tpno. Lastly, you can turn on/off the ability for others to send teleport requests to you using the command /tptoggle.

*Note: TP-Killing is allowed outside of spawn plots so be extra careful when players pester you to teleport to them! Should you be a victim of TP-Killing within spawn plots, report it on the forums here:

    http://www.guildcraft.org/forums/report-a-player.14/

When you come across another player's claim, you can check when the player last logged in using the command /seen <playername>. If the player has been offline for more than 28 days, you are allowed to request for an admin to unclaim the land, giving you access to the build and its chests. (This is commonly known as raiding)

    Chapter 3: Earning/Trading
After some time, you would realize money comes into play on the server. Type /bal to check how much money you have. In Semi-Vanilla, ways to earn money is rather limited. Below are 3 ways to earn money on the server:

    Selling At /warp shop:
If you had visited the other warps, you would realize that /warp shop is pretty small. There are only 3 items that can be sold directly to the server at /warp shop. They are
diamonds, emeralds and gold ingots. As such, mining/trading for such items to sell at /warp shop is one of the way for earning money on the server.

    Selling/Buying with other Players.
Another way to earn money is through making deals with other players. You can lookout for players who are looking to buy certain items and if you happen to have them, feel free to do a trade. Trading is safest done using the /trade command that players can utilize.

    Advertising:
Type /adv <message> to advertise items you wish to sell. For example, if I am selling a beacon, I can type /adv Selling Beacon at 80k! Message for details!

*Note: Scamming is allowed in Semi-Vanilla! Use /trade to have a safe trade!

    Trading:
Trading can be done between players around the world so long the two are in the same biome (e.g. Both players at The End/Nether etc). To initiate a trade, simply type /trade <playername>. Let's say you are trading with me, the command would be /trade FrozenFever. To accept trade requests from another player, simply type/trade accept. The following screen will show up once the trade begins:

There are two separate trade screens. Look for the one with your name above. That's where you will add your money/items to trade. The Gold Nugget, Gold Ingot, Gold Block and Diamond are what you click on to add money into your trade. The wooden shovel is for the trading of claimblocks. Mouse over them and the details will appear. If you are trading items from your inventory, simply move them into the trade screen above. When money is offered, the ender pearl will change to show the eye of ender. Mouse over to see how much money you have offered. In the case above, I am trading off one iron leggings for $1 from cl0se5. Once both sides are ready, click on the red glass pane and the following is what will appear:

The red glass pane turns green and a new column of green panes appears to countdown the trade. Once the entire column is green, the trade is completed and the trade screen automatically closes.

Chapter 4: Local Chest Shop & Global Chest Shop
For those familiar with Survival, you would realize one of the key differences between Semi-Vanilla and Survival is that auctions are absent in Semi-Vanilla. Instead, buying and selling is commonly done through the Local Chest Shop & Global Chest Shop found at /warp shop. It is easily found, and should look like this:

The ender chest with heading "Player Shops" provides access to
Local Chest Shop while the ender chest with heading "Per Item Shop" provides access to Global Chest Shop. I will cover the details for these 2 shops below:

    Local Chest Shop:

The main function of this shop is to allow players to purchase items from a particular player. When you first access the Local Chest Shop, you will be presented with a screen full of player heads arranged in alphabetical order as shown below:

You can navigate through pages using the papers found at the bottom of the screen and once you have found the player you are seeking, click on his/head. The following screen should appear to show the item the player is selling:

Proceed to click on the item you wish to buy and you will be brought to this screen:

    Mouse over
to the sign to view details of the purchase such as amount of items and its price. If you are happy with the price, click on it and you will be brought to a confirmation screen. The green wool represents "Yes" while the red wool represents "No".

Once the confirmation is done, the trade is complete. At any point of time, click on the red glass pane at the top right to exit. The compass at the top left is used for returning to the previous screen and any papers that appear are used to flip through pages.

    Global Chest Shop:
The Global Chest Shop allows players to buy & sell items.

*Note: Donators and above can access Global Chest Shop simply through the command /shop instead of going to /warp shop.

Items are classified in this shop and upon accessing it, a screen showing these item categories will appear:

For a start, we will deal with the purchase of items first. Based on the item you wish to purchase, select its category and you will be shown the following screen:

Again, use the papers to flip through the pages until you find your desired item type. Click on it to move on to this screen:

You will be greeted with a screen full of the item you wish to buy. Mouse over each slot and it will display information on the amount being sold, price and seller. Once you have made up your mind on which to buy, click on it.

Similar to the Local Chest Shop, Mouse over to the sign to view details of the purchase such as amount of items and its price. If you are happy with the price, click on it and you will be brought to a confirmation screen. The green wool represents "Yes" while the red wool represents "No".

Once the confirmation is done, the trade is complete. At any point of time, click on the red glass pane at the top right to exit. The hopper allows for players to search for specific items, the compass at the top left is used for returning to the previous screen and any papers that appear are used to flip through pages.

One can also sell items at the Global Chest Shop. At the first screen, click on the nether star found at the bottom right and you will be brought to the following screen:

Drag or use shift-click to place the item you wish to sell into the center of the screen around the blue glass panes. Once done, the blue glass pane will turn green as shown:

An arrow will also appear. Click on it to continue to the next screen:

Here, you will adjust the price of your items. The first row is for increasing the price while the second row is for reducing the price. Mouse over those items for information on its price increment and reduction. Mouse over the nametag to check the current price it is at and once you have gotten a desired price, click on the arrow to move on:

At this final screen, click on the nether star and the item will now be placed on "auction". Players can then buy your items from the Global Chest Shop.

All players can create/remove auctions from their home by making a "GlobalChestShop". Simply put down a chest and place a sign on it, typing "[LocalShop]" on the first line. The completed shop should look like this:

Accessing it with right click would then open up an auction screen showing your current auctions which you can add/remove.

To delete the shop, simply left click on the shop for a confirmation screen.

*Note: For cancelling an auction, simply click on the enchanted book at the bottom left of the first screen. Click on the item you wish to remove from auction and a confirmation screen similar to those mentioned above will be shown for you to confirm the removal.

    Chapter 5: Sign Shop
Sign shops can be made in Semi-Vanilla as well and is done in the same way as in Survival server. Steps to making a sign shop are shown below:

Step 1: Make a Chest and fill them with the item you want to sell (Only 1 type of item per chest)
Sign shops work with both single chest and double chest. Fill the chest with the item that you wish to sell.

Step 2: Place a Sign on the chest and type in the details
There are 4 lines that players can type in one the sign. These are the details required in each line for the sign shop to work:
    1st line: <Your Playername> Example: FrozenFever
    2nd line:
<Quantity of the items you are selling each time> Example: 1
    3rd line:
<Price for the quantity of items stated above> Example: B 20
    4th line:
<Itemid of the item you are selling> Example: 364

*Note: Itemid of the item can be obtained by holding the item in hand and typing /iteminfo.

Refer to the picture below for an example:

If the sign shop was done correctly, the sign would stay on the chest as shown below:

Players can now right click on the sign to purchase cooked beef from you at a price of $20 for 1.

Creating a sell shop for players to sell items to you is done in a similar way. The only difference lies in the third line. Refer to the two pictures below for an example:

Chapter 6: Checking Online Players/Dealing with Problems
To check the list of online players, type /list. The ranks of each players are also shown in alphabetical order in /list.

There are several problems one can encounter on Semi-Vanilla. Some of these problems include private message spamming, bullying in the form of verbal abuse etc. In the case where a player is spamming you, simply use the command /ignore <playername>. You will no longer receive his/her messages/spams. In a case of bullying or hacking of the sort, contact admins using the command /helpop <message>. Make sure not to abuse this command for minor issues as admins can be busy checking logs etc. Players are however, allowed to use /helpop to ask admins to help with unclaims.

In serious cases which require admins to help but none are online, feel free to look for admins on the forums or in teamspeak 3 (TS3).

*Note: GuildCraft Address on TS3: ts.guildcraft.org

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
    1) Where can I use my vote coins/donate coins?
Vote coins and donate coins are unavailable on Semi-Vanilla. Spawners are found naturally.
    2) How do I message offline players?
You can mail offline players using the command /mail send <playername> <message>. They will receive it when they come online. To read messages, type /mail read. To clear message box, type /mail clear.
    5) Is PVP enabled in the server?
PVP is enabled only at /warp pvp as well as 5000 blocks away from spawn. New players are advised not to stay away from PVP zones due to the lack of good items for fighting.
    6) Is griefing/scamming/tp-killing allowed?
    Yes, be careful!!!
    7) Is there party or group chat?
Yes, type /party in chat and some instructions/help will appear. Read and follow the instructions. They come rather instinctively. To send an instant message in party, use /p <message>.
    8) How do I send/pay money to other players?
Outside of trade-screen, money can also be sent to other players through the command /pay <playername> <amount>. For example, to pay me $5000, one would type /pay frozenfever 5000.

As a semi staff member I really apreciate it you have made this, thank you very much!

    -cl0se5

Quick note: You can trade where ever you want, it doesn't need to be at spawn.
Only nether & end are untradeable worlds.

(I really wanna rate the post. But they are missing on phone xD)

Ay, this is pretty good. But lemme point out something

/trade can also be used in Nether and the End. But those two traders have to be in the same biome i.e Ya can trade a person in the End if ya are in the End o,o It's just /shop (vip+ feature) that can't be used at Nether and End

Oh, and /adv also got removed xP RIP.

Just wanna add about TNTs. They work in unclaimed lands which are under sea level. Need /ClaimExplosions for claimed lands

/msg name message can also be used as /w. /tpaccept and /tpdeny as /tpyes /tpno But oh well xD These aren't optional o,o

Respect! o.o I'll rate all your posts tomorrow, once I get online on PC xP
