Issues, solutions, and potential implementations. General issues with resets [Issue] Bugs: One of the primary issues with resets is bugs, which arise due to lack of play-testing. [Solution] Beta-Testing: Create a separate server with limited slots for beta testing. This allows bugs to be seen and found in a live-environment, which may not have been noticed initially. [Implementation] Melon333 should get full-access to the server, including the ability to add plug-ins as seen fit, the ability to modify configs, etc. Either players should be randomly selected by entering via some form, or they should purchase a white-list pass for a small price. For the latter, the player should receive a small reward upon release of the full reset. As for determining when the reset should be fully released, this should be up to the players. There should an active poll at all times to see the "approval rating" of the server. When it reaches a certain percent, it should be ready for release. A plug-in to log and report bugs should be added (like /bugreport [short description]), and players should be rewarded a small reward in-game in the beta-testing server for reporting valid bugs. Beta-testing also gives time to add/tweak/fix features over time instead of last minute, which would result in a concrete reset. [Issue] Player-count decrease: Another primary issue is the fact that the player count tends to fall off after a certain amount of time, either due to bugs or boredom. [Solution] Events and beta-testing (see above for beta-testing): Fix bugs via beta-testing. Promote 1-2 Faction Admins to "Event Admin" to coordinate events. Events should occur every 2 weeks to 1 month in order to attract players. Coupons should be given out for these events. [Implementation] I highly recommend promoting Nija12 to Event Admin, as he is a very experienced admin, is still active, and is very trustworthy. He has hosted unofficial events in the past; all players involved enjoyed the experience. I also recommend promoting EpicGodLight, as he is known to be trusted since he is a Head-Admin and staff on Factions. Event Admins should have more permissions that can help in holding these events. General Faction issues [Issue] Player suggestions don't get implemented. [Solution] Allow Melon333 to implement these suggestions. [Implementation] This also goes along with the Beta-Testing. Allow Melon333 to implement these suggestions in the beta server. Reward players for original and creative ideas. Not really much of a point in making suggestions when most either A) go unimplemented B) or get denied by aXed. This discourages players from making suggestions, making them wonder why they should even bother making suggestions. [Issue] Players HATE Speed Boosters [Solution] Remove Speed Boosters. [Implementation] Remove Speed Boosters, add McMMO boosters to replace them. [Issue] KOTH is too large. [Solution] Reduce KOTH size. [Implementation] This could go hand-in-hand with the Beta-Testing server. Melon333 could adjust the size during Beta to a size the players prefer. It is also possible to hold a poll to see what the players prefer and adjust it right now (although KOTHs would likely be cancelled for awhile if this is the chosen method of implementation). [Issue] Gapple Cooldown [Solution] Hold a poll and implement the preferred solution. [Implementation] Implement the solution players have already voted on. Those are some issues that Factions currently has. I don't think this is all the issues it has, but these are definitely issues that should be fixed because they will have effects on all future resets and not just the current one (yes, lag is an issue, but its unlikely it will be an issue next reset). Another issue factions has is that its becoming more and more of a carbon copy of other factions servers each reset. Currently, factions isn't very original, so when a new player (or old player who plays on another server) joins factions, they probably ask themselves what makes GuildCraft so special from other servers. Frankly, it doesn't offer anything too different from any other servers. The solution? Factions should be overhauled to make it a truly unique experience. My particular solution is to revert Factions back to an older style of Factions and bring it back to its roots. Here is a small list of suggestions that would make Factions feel more old-schooled. Make Factions 1.7-1.8, ditch 1.9+. Reduce the power per player back to 10 or 15 (35 is simply too OP), and reduce the number of players per faction to 20-25. Increase price of TNT, obsidian, and sponges. Remove Gen Buckets and Trench tools. Remove the requirement for spawner XP. Increase the price of all spawners (yes, including in the Legacy Shop), reduce the spawners per 64 blocks. Bring back this spawn: https://www.guildcraft.org/threads/factions-originals-reset.20296/ (Best spawn ever, just sayin' ) This certainly isn't the only solution that can give GC that 'it' factor, but I feel as though reverting it would bring back OG's seeking nostalgia and classic Factions. I agree with everything except the last list. Trench pickaxes are good it reduces the time of base building. The same for gen buckets. And the last thing, I hate that spawn xD I could never see if there was a enemy down since you cant see the nametags from all the way up. But all the others suggestions are good +1
