»Private Message Mutes

I think you should be muted for harsh messages in private chat such as encouraging suicide or harassment even through private chat. Whether it's a "kys", rape threats, or something darker and more sinister, private messages shouldn't prevent someone from receiving a mute. It shouldn't ever be excused as a a simple "can't take or joke?" because you're not funny. It's bad enough that you would even think of such a "joke", but to post it?

 

Don't give me any bullshit "it's called 'private' chat for a reason" or "admins shouldn't examine my private message". @AsyFrost take a look at this thread.

 

Stuff like suicide threats ect. should be muteable in pm.

 

I don't think pm should be muteable. You can simply ignore him; /eignore. Anyway, that's just my opinion .

 

but how to offend somebody if i cant even tell him/her if i wanted to rape his/her mom?

Would agree but only if the person getting harrassed reports it cuz friends do that shit all the time.

In some cases it is muteable already, for example saying ''****'' to harass someone. But I think any harassment or suicide encouragement in /msg should be muteable.

I would agree, but also disagree at the same time. They shouldn't be bugging you, if they are you can ignore them but it would be nice to be able to get people punished for harassing you in a PM. The only reason I disagree is since the staff team can't see the private messages, it would be very easy for people to frame each other with fake PM reports. For example, lets say you message someone who strongly dislikes you due to past history (idk). They could easily use something such as "inspect element" to change what your message says, and before you know it you're banned for something you didn't do. And since they cant see your PMs, they can't get proof that you were framed. And if you appeal with a screenshot of the ACTUAL MESSAGE, they could easily believe that YOU are the one faking it to get out of your punishment. It is a good idea, but it could also lead to a lot of new issues.

 

Idk about guildcraft but in some servers staff can see othres players personal messages
And guildcraft only can deal With if you have the screenshot of the actual ofence (atm only in public chat)

 

That's what I said. If they were to take a screenshot of their private chat, they could use inspect element to make it look like they said something completely different, then take a screenshot of the changed message.

 

I know i was just swing that guildcraft mods and admin can only mute If they have the screenshot with the ofence or If they saw that in game

 

Im pretty sure they can with ss + They can check the logs so faking a message isint a option

If you mean SS as in SocialSpy, that is a plugin on the server and has no effect on the forums.

Yes, pm threats/harassment in game should be muteable. However I don't think staff will have SocialSpy on 24/7 as their chat would be flooded due to the amount of players on the server.

 

Honestly, what are you on about First of all, Admins have the privilege to look at msgs when they are being sent, which is why there is something called SocialSpy. However, admins do not have the power to see logs which is why Head-Admins have power such as AsyFrost, who is a Kitpvp head admin. Secondly, there is no way you can fake screenshots with 'inspect element' I don't understand how you even come up with this. You basically wasted 10 minutes of your life on writing a comment which makes no sense at all.

Ayt lemme explain my point of view. First of all, there is something called /ignore which means if there is a player that annoys u or you dont want to associate yourself to them, Ignore them.

Mutes should not really count if I say a curse word, for example ' You are so shi*'. You can easily just ignore and not waste your time. But if I was to encourage someone to suicide 'kys' that should definatly count as a mute. There are both benefits and disadvantages to this tbh.
