Hey what is up guys, before I become really inactive to the point I won't post on forum regularly, I want to share some of my faction experience. [literally have nth to do now so i am writing this lol] Anyway, this thread is gonna cover up most of the things you should do when starting factions.

Step 1 [If you are able to login to the server as soon as it resets]

I usually come onto the server as soon as it resets, or at least try to. You may wonder why? Well when factions started, players usually go for blaze spawners in the nether, which is very rare.
When I log on, I usually head to shop and quickly grab some epearls and TNT and some oak wood (to make into buttons and building blocks). Then, quickly warp to the nether, find a spot where I can start my adventure around the nether and grab myself some blaze spanwers. You have to be very patient to find these things. Keep going 1 direction or just zig zag around is the best idea. It often take 15-20 minutes or less to find a nether fortress. Don't worry if you didn't get one. I am usually very unlucky but when I got a blaze Spawner after exploding 3 spanwers, it is a win for me :).
Also, if you have a teammate, try to get him to the world border. I warn you not to go to the corner unless you have at least a gang of 10 members online. Otherwise, you won't have enough claim for the base and players will get a claim right next to your claim, which prevent you from building more walls and defenses.

Step 1 [If you aren't able to login to the server as soon as it resets (around 1-2 days from the reset]
Now, most of the pro players would have gotten the tp to the corner and most of the blaze spanwers (some will still linger around but it's really hard to find and its not worth it).
What you want to do is to head to world border. Of course, gonna take quite an amount of time to get there. You will need a load of food but /vote will give you some money to buy steak at shop (don't bother go to free food it's a waste of time ;').
Of course, you want to start a faction but don't invite friends who you don't know! DO NOT INVITE THOSE YOU DONT KNOW I WARN YA. Trust issue is a big thing in factions. Players can pull off a quick move on you and back stab you. It's better to start off by your own and if you have a friend, that is great!

    Step 2 [Build a farm]
Goes the same for everyone, farm is one of the greatest income source when it comes to factions. You really do want to get money as fast as possible to buy some spanwers. Or if you don't like spanwers, then you can buy other resources like armour, diamond blocks (Titan donators usually sell them for 50-60k per stack at the start of the reset, look for them or just ask in public chat). I usually farm up to around 50k (which take around 1 hour approximately if you have a giant farm) remember to USE THE SUGARCANE FARM. Many people say cactus farm is a better income Source but no, I have tested one out and it didn't quite worth it. Sugarcane is better.

Step 3 [Build a hidden vault]
Usually, if I start by my own, I usually hide my base inside a raided looking base. Simply just make a small base with 5-6 walls, then poke a few holes. However, don't leave an entrance inside your vault xD just hide it somewhere inside the base, where people don't suspect it. At the start of the reset, no one will have enough TNT resource to raid a 5-6 walls base + they won't be bothered raiding one since your base looks like it's "raided" -> no real good loot in the chest. Not a stupid idea ey?
I will never recommend building a skyvault or an underground vault. X-rayers, chest hackers are everywhere and they can just enable their hack. Don't you think dispenser vault will work since they just can enable dispenser inside their X-ray guide, which makes dispenser vault xrayable as well.

Step 4 [Mining and getting resources]
Before you want to start your base, here are the 5 main items you are going to need:
    1. A good armour set (just get some fire protection, any enchants are fine really :/ as long as it is diamond since diamond armour negates fire damage very well) if you are on faction dimension, grab feather falling I and Jump III on your boots. It makes base building much more efficient.
    2. Iron buckets (simply mine and grab like 6-8 stacks of iron) the more buckets you have, the faster you make your base)
    3. A good pickaxe (get 30lv from voting + some lapis while mining and there you go, a good pickaxe will be made)
    4. Fire resistance potion (recommended! In the past, while base building, I usually die in lava at least 15 times @.@)
    5. At least 1 inventory of nether racks and a lot of slabs. (To make walls in my video.)
Mainly focus on getting iron and diamond. Those are the essential resources, once you are done, go to the next step.

Step 5 [Build a base and recruit members]
    Time to start a base...
    http://guildcraft.org/threads/『how-to-faction』series-tips-and-tricks-on-factions.24570/
That thread will teach you how to make a base with some defenses. Sorry for the mic quality but :/ at least I show you how to make walls quite efficiently, better than all of the ways on YouTube.
Anyway, yes, start yourself a base. It doesn't need to be big. If you concentrate on your work, A 5 walls base will be done in a drop of a hat.

When you recruit members, make a recruiting page on forum. Dont give those players mod straight away :/ he will be likely to betray you. Give those players a little area first and ask them to help you with building, pvping, etc. after a week, if you start to like this guy, your choice to mod him. I found my right hand man - SicarioDemexico this way and the mods, I used the same way. Our little crew has been together for like a year now.

Some basic commands you gotta know.
    Faction original:
/f claim (claim your faction land in a 16x16 area aka 1 chunk)
/f unclaim (unclaim the land you Stand on)
/f owner (player name) allow moderators, owner, and the player name who is added to the owner claim
    /f create
    /f invite /f deinvite
    /f c p,a,f (p for public, a for ally and f for faction only)
/f map (where your claim is)
/f show (check who is in the fac) also, warning, there is a land/power/max power line. You want your land claims to be at least 30 less claims than your power otherwise you are going to get over claimed. Keep your faction power to the max. Don't invite players who have negative power.
/f power (player name) check player's power.
    Faction dimension:

So yeah, those are the 5 main steps to build a strong faction. If you guys want a turotial on how to become rich, comment down below! If I see 15 people liking this turtorial, I will be spend some of my time doing it.

Ocean is the best area. And make sure to make it around 8-10k blocks from spawn. No one will usually waste their TNT on a farm lol
