So... Guildcraft is a cracked server, that means users can create as many accounts as they wish... (if there is no plugin to prevent this) So that means, if a kiddy gets banned for cheating on here, he wouldn't wait those 10 days, he would rather go ahead and enter a new name and hack on Guildcraft again. Where is the problem banning people permanently? I mean everytime I go on OITC there are like 1-3 hackers idk, and the best part: *mods can't ban people* GG
That's just how GC works. Moderators mute and warn people, while admins also ban. It might sound weird but mods have either not shown enough maturity / skill to become admin or they don't want to become admin (which rarely happens). Apply for mod and work your way up to admin if you want to do something about hackers or start reporting them, but don't complain without having done any of the things I just mentioned.
Two scientific terms 'false positive' and 'false negative'. A false negative is when someone hacks but is not detected. A false positive is when someone did not hack but was detected as hacking regardless. You are not always able to prove your innocence unless you screen record everything all the time. I've been playing GC for years, and I play alot, I have gotten banned probably 9 times, most of those I was able to reasonably prove that the ban was not deserved and won on appeal. As far as I can recall only two bans stuck one for staff disrespect which I suppose I deserved (but i still think mute/forum ban would have been more appropriate) and the other was for 'auto clicking' when my frigging room mate was microwaving causing lag while I was grinding at a mob farm. I have in the past build mob grinders so fast, which had carpets and half slab ceilings that if a player jumped and attacked they would trigger the auto crit banner within seconds. These players where told by staff that the auto ban worked that they should stop hacking and not to lie. They would have remained falsely banned had I not been able to prove that the auto crit plugin was in fact banning people who where not using hacks at all. I have been one of the biggest miners in guildcraft, on survival before I had a rank i was mctop miner and had more than 2x the mining level as players who got 3x mcmmo exp. I had mined about 80 million dollars worth of diamonds (they where worth more back then) and once was falsly banned by itsamythist (who did not even play survival) for xray (because he thought i had too many diamonds in my inventory so i must be hacking). I don't know how many times I just mindlessly mine, I tunnel forward for a while and suddenly turn right and mine and just meander about, usually im watching a youtube or listening to an audio book and just let my mind run when I mine. In all that time mining I dont know how many times I just got lucky, now had some admin been watching me for a couple minutes they could have been convinced I was x-raying, and they would have been completely wrong. If you perma ban a hacker he will just ip spoof or whatever. If you perma ban a legitimate player who didn't do anything wrong he will quit the server and never come back. Now I'm not saying there aren't instances where clear proof of hacking can be gotten and would not feel bad about perma banning in those cases. I'm talking about things like flying when a player cant fly or water walking or any other impossible thing. But to perminatly ban someone just because you think they are hacking without absolute proof would be bs.
See That's The problem in banning permanently. A player might have loads of stuff on that account and might be OP on it (anni kits , fac stuff . survival stuff etc etc) He could be innocent and wants to come back He may learn his lesson and not hack There are so many possibilities.
