Good day, I have another interesting suggestion for you all regarding semi-vanilla and how guildcraft could turn things around and make the gamemode alot more popular. for quite sometime semivanilla's popularity has been significantly dropping, be it because of the loss of certain plugins or the lack of obtainable perks or whatever the case. so with that in mind I have a possible solution to a few problems regarding semivanilla and also the inability of players to buy unban keys once permabanned. now if you look into it there is a flavor of gamemode out there called "anarchy" simply put the gamemode its self is fairly minimalist utilizing zero economy plugins and grief protection plugins, a few servers out there that you could check out yourself are most notably 2b2t.org and its clone server 4b4t.com.(there are a bunch more out there... 1b1t, 3b3t, 5b5t, etc) 2b2t its self is by far maybe one of the oldest known minecraft servers in existence and as far as anybody can tell has in infinite map size. that aside the game mode has picked up alot of popularity over the years but lacks 1 simple thing... and offline server to host it. as far as I know if you wish to play on any of the anarchy servers in existence you must be premium. here is where the interesting part of my suggestion comes in... now when staff permabans a gc player, if its bad enough; they are gone for good. and in the end its 1 less player whom uses our network, and 1 less future perspective client we can earn money off of. now with that in mind, what if gc just all out stopped permabanning players; and just plainly restricted their access too all gamemodes but anarchy.(where there are basically no rules anyways) the anarchy gamemode could be a place where banned players could still buy ranks and w/e else; but... would also be able to complete a "number" of achievements(via an achievements plugin) that would eventually lead to an unban event being initiated. now one would think something like this would be rather hard to put together, and the technical specifics seem a bit shady. but the truth is... the actual configuration of such an anarchy server in comparison to alot of the other gamemodes on gc is quite simplistic. the server itself would require nothing more plugin wise besides a rank/online shop, anti-cheat, ban manager, advanced achievement's, and other essentials. its just by far maybe one of the more humane ways to deal with cheater's, harasser's, and all around toxic players. and instead of throwing away a possible client, in this way we can cater to what they are looking for in a server. in this place there would be no economy, no spawn(besides a spawn block), there would be no grief protection, and there would be very few staff around to even care. just anarchy and the struggle to escape the wasteland that is spawn. (and a literal "ton" of prerequisite achievements needed to get unblacklisted from the rest of the network, like 1000+) think of it as an open air jail nobody has ever considered building for their server. some would play there by choice because they like the freedom, others would play their because they have no choice and they messed up big time. in the end tho its just something crazy nobody else has, and whats more its technologically feasible.(even simple) I could add more... but I think this is a big enough wall of text for today. Cheer's. @aXed @PaddyWagon @CyrusTheVirus1
Solid idea bro, at least gc wont lose their permabanned players as well as those that got temp banned for xray or stuffs like that. 1 question tho, what if there are spammers and bots that run on the anarchy server? Wont it lag the server up?
if people wana be lawless and break the rules... dealing with that sort of stuff is just the nature of anarchy. there are many different aspects to it that are supposed to make the game harder, the anarchy server would be our dumping ground for the worst of the worst gc has to offer. don't matter if they are spammers or what ever the case may be.
on almost all other anarchy servers out there, people often die many times of starvation just trying to escape the spawn area. or the lag gets them. or some player just walks up and murders them. thats just the game mode.
Um I like what some guy from Microsoft did with xbox... in other words if they buy the unban give them a perm tag [CHEATER] I'm sure it will make someone here laugh... but either than that, +1 semi has gotten a bit... well what you said lol
I absolutely love this suggestion. This is similar to sending people to a 'jail' server instead of banning them to keep the playerbase, somewhat. There are simple plugins to circumvent or mitigate these simple types of attacks. Also, with a server like this, we might be able to find some way to make unban-events eula compliant. Perhaps splitting it into multiple servers with 1-5 players and #unbanparty. Probably not eula compliant but hey, I'm just brainstorming. I'm sure something can be thought up.
This will become the 10th circle of hell if the permabanned players get to play on a anarchy server. Just like how street fighter 4 had a separate server for rage quitters and exiting it became an Sisyphean task. I like this.
I suggested use an achievements plugin because its very light weight and there are a number of different functions that can be worked into them. like for example: survive the night escape spawn kill a player get killed by a creeper help a player etc, you get the point. after about 1000 of those, if they take the time... they deserve to come back.
if its non-compulsory and everybody who is around can receive the achievement as a booster equally, then that's eual complaint. the idea is for people to play on a gamemode that is as close to vanilla mc as possible while racking up the needed achievements to win their freedom. (something that I might add should be made into no simple task, ideally it should take anywhere from 6-10 months to even over a year; depending upon how much somebody play's) as for non-banned players who want to play, they would be able to come and go as they please. its a new dynamic to mc guildcraft does not have, in fact im quite sure nobody has it. in the past servers would just sell unban keys, and that would be the end of it.(lol or just plainly not unban people) its just a good way to put the undesirables to good use.
It's an awesome idea to be implemented in GC reminds me of the movie ''The Purge'' where for 24 hours you can do whatever you want and no one can stop you. But there should be a rule if they completed the achievement's and got to the ultimate goal of getting unbanned. When they are caught using hacks or being toxic etc. They should be able to do anarchy twice after that. So in total they can only do 3 anarchy after being perma banned and unbanned 3 times. Example: They got perma banned in the main GC server's and it's their first time doing anarchy and has to complete 1000 and when they complete it they get unbanned. But when they get caught again for hacking or anything sever and got perm banned. Their second offence is they can do anarchy again but the challenges will double. like all the achievements has to be doubled from original. Same goes for the third time. They get perma banned. All the achievements will be tripled from its original. Lastly if they got unbanned again and did anarchy 3 times already and got caught again for using hacks or being toxic and other reasons they should be perm banned on the whole GC main server because they had a lot of chances to change their ways but are still the same. I genuinely believe in chances but if they keep doing the same thing again. My opinion is they are a hopeless cause. If they did the anarcy server and got unbanned them 3 times already and their's no point in unbaning them because they will just repeat what they did. But they can still play the anarchy server if they want. Some people that want a second chance and will hopefully learn from what they did and learn from there mistakes will be able to play again.
+1 from me, but dont make semivanilla like that .-. make a different server ! I dun wana have to make undergroud bases for xrayer to find em
the current system is the system that permanently bans people, my idea is the one to stop that and give permabanned players a lengthy but very real chance to get unbanned. it would make it so we dont have to loose all our friends who get permanently banned as they would just get banished to the anarchy server, a place where normal non banned players can visit and leave anytime they want. might also give players a chance to help their friends get unbanned via aiding them to complete the achievements.
Finally one good, "creative" and well elaborated idea. The only concern is that it can get "to demanding" because of human nature itself. 1. Like: why should I do all those achievements in "Purgatory" . If people get banned under one name, they can just log in under another and keep cheating and trolling (new IP). They already lost ALL they had in "normal" game mode. Its easier and done so many times. So, they need possibility to take over old achievements, ranks , IG stuff etc 2. As Asy mentioned "10 EUR or xxx EUR achievement" should be considered as well to be a) punished for what they did and b) to invest and be focused on final goal - liberation. This can be done as purchasable Cheater Rank after 90% of Tbi's initially achievements is done in Purgatory. Then, ranked people could be in position to fulfill last 10% achievements needed.
So basically if someone is perm banned, he can buy the rank [CHEATER] which will give him access to that server which is allowed by the eula (paying for ENTERING a server), then they can work out the achievments there to get unbanned
1. as for how the ip ban system works around gc, im not 100% fully versed in the inner workings of the bm plugin; one might assume staff would still want to be left with the "nuclear option" if a player is especially toxic and just needs to gtfo. all I know is that admins can blacklist players on one gamemode while they are still able to play on others, and that leaves open the option to always have 1 gamemode where players are whitelisted regardless. also lets be real wouldent it just be fun to have it where temp banned players get stuck in a virtual purgatory. as for a guy like me I utterly wont give up my username, I was once unfairly banned on a server; and thats what landed me here on gc. 2. as for the actual achievement system itself, it should have 1000+ different achievements. if it has that many(or more) one might assume there would be a threshold under 100% needed to acquire an unban. (adding in a bonus "donator" or cheater" achevement obtainable to all whom are online at the time is well within the scope of the eula; the donator achevement would likely fall within the 1001+ achievements as there would be a core 1000 that have nothing to do with money and donations) even 75% would take a long ass time to complete considering when you spawn into a true anarchy gamemode there is nothing, and you have to slowly walk far away from spawn(@x0,y65,z0) for a very long time. on anarchy servers like 2b2t when players start out its brutal, and if you make the mistake if building your base too close to spawn it will get griefed, generally the aim is to slowly walk away from either axis for about 50k or more blocks without starving to death. if you just walk north, east, south, or west; its a recipe for disaster; and its all very time consuming. but thats the point.
no, it should be free for everybody to play on. in every respect an anarchy server should for all intents and purposes be vanilla; thats another reason why I suggested an advanced achievements plugin... because vanilla minecraft already has an achievements setup it just needs to be adapted to handle unbans with an exterior plugin. which an exterior achievements plugin can totally do if it has access to the ban manager plugin, and its sql database.
