So basically, I've resigned, for some reason I still have my mod tag. And since I've resigned I somehow got banned, so while I'm waiting for the unban request I made this. So I'm here to just put up a simple explanation that I see, as to why GC's attempt to limit Spawners is just kind of game-ruining especially in factions. So basically here are the main points: People will bypass it by just building huge chunk bases It won't reduce lag, regardless of what limits are made, we factions players will always find a loophole It kind of puts an "end game" to a game that shouldn't have any end 1) Bypassing No matter what limits are put up, there will always be a way around it. And of course you may say you don't have enough claims etc. But it really doesn't stop the majority of us players from simply going out into the end, and building a massive unclaimed base. We'll put up more and more spawners, and that is how the spawner limit is basically bypassed, we've got an endless canvas in the end, and we'll put up spawners one way or another. 2) Reducing Lag Yes you can say it "reduces lag" but an argument that I'd like to make is why is GC lagging if premium servers with only 1/3rd the community can be lag free with 20x the spawners? There are plenty of servers that manage lag easily even with over 100,000 hoppers, thousands of spawners etc. And once again, it won't exactly stop us from causing EVEN more lag in another way. We'll build huge auto farms that'll replace iron golems, insanely huge sugarcane farms to farm money, and these two things combined I believe still cause a lot more lag, even to the point where farms have been world edited out to reduce the lag. (Yes axed you know what farm I'm talking about ;]). I don't know the statistics, but there is definitely some back-lash from adding the spawner limit, and more than obviously a massive increase in automatic pumpkin farms that've caused similar lag as a massive amount of spawners would've caused. 3) End Game So this is the most important one, game play wise. I personally believe competition is minimal on GC factions due to spawner limit. Not only is there no f top, which is basically the prime way of seeing the top factions. But on top of that, spawner limit basically puts a "cap" on the game mode. You don't progress once you've gotten the most iron golems you can to fit into your base. And that is the reason not a lot of players are constantly hooked on factions. Its really annoying being able to "win" a game where there should always be more to do. And there are thousands of things that can be added to make the progression endless, but the main one is these spawners. My tip: Consider adding plugins that other factions servers use, those are the things that keep people playing, things that make you want to beat others, and raid others. Hope you enjoyed my rant.
Seriously, i'd want to see what happens if i build a huge laggy piston redstone block 1 frame clocks. Will the staff ban me for building pure lagmachines?
Applied for internships, got bored of GC to be honest, kinda just the same thing over and over again, the resets are getting progressively better, but its progressing at a rate too slow :/
